Priceless.
It’s just…

Melky has been so consistent and helpful to the Yankees this year. He plays spectacular defense and has so many walk-offs we should name him Captain Clutch.

Sorry Derek but we are officially dethroning you for some….

In what was supposed to be a stellar pitching matchup yesterday, both pitchers flopped. CC allowed 5 runs…

What happened Big Man? Luckily though, Mark Buehrle did even worse and he was pounded for 7 runs and 12 hits by the Yankees.

Ouch. The Yankees sure beat up on poor Buehrle. When I say poor I mean the guy with a no-no and a perfecto so I’ll say GO YANKS!!!
Looking Ahead
Today the Yanks face the Doc of baseball, Mr.Halladay himself. Hopefully we can put the type of hurting we did on Buehrle, on the Doc.
Looking at the Present
Today the Rays beat the Royals and Zack Grienke 10-4 and say-hey Willie! Aybar was working his magic today hitting 2 homers, one as a lefty and one as a righty. Kaz pitched a great game as well.

Will he be next year’s cover boy???? No…
He will.
We Swept Them Right Off Their Feet!
I think we need to take these out…

Why??? Well, because the Yankees and Rays swept both their series and are now 3-0 since the All-Star break! Go 3 and 0! Hah, hah, hah. Much of this success can be contributed to the fact that our pitchingis doing spectacular and that our hitters are coming up clutch in key situations.

My man Longoria has been doing alot better since the break and I’m glad. His shot in the 1st game the Rays played since the 2nd half began put them ahead 8-7 and they were able to hold on to the lead with great pitching from J.P. Howell at the end of the game.

This series Howell has been especially lights-out as he has recorded saves in all 3 games and using his dominant stuff to overpower the Royals hitters. He is a talented pitcher that knows how to manipulate his stuff at the right time and place. Will he ever be as good as The Sandman? Nobody will, but in the meantime he can keep on doing what he’s doing and keep on securing the win for us in the 9th inning.

The Rays definitely win the comeback kids award as in each of their games in this series they have came back in the 7th inning or later to get the lead and the win. Talk about fighting till the end!

Hey, this is a Yankee and Rays blog right? So I gotta give a little love to the boys in the big white and blue, the New York Yankees!

How about Teixeira this past series man? He was on fire! 2 homers, 5 hits, 4 R.B.I.’s, so this is why we signed this guy for 180 million dollars this past off-season. He could really put on a show once he gets rolling.

I don’t think the Tigers were prepared for this fiersome beast that they had to face.

You’d better watch out Red Sox Nation.

We’re Catching Up.
Third Time’s The Charm!
Wow, I have been thinking. You know baseball is really a game of numbers and statistics, right? So there’s got to be some odd occurences that happen during the 162 game season right? Well I just figured out baseball is all a game of 3′s.

Yep, a game of threes. I mean how many homeruns did the two men below each achieve on Monday back to back?

That’s right Three Hundred!
of these
Now, how many runs did Corey Hart slug in today with his homer?

Three!
( I had to give him props he’s on my fantasy team!)
Last one for you. What do these two men have on common (besides the fact that they are great baseball players)?

You got it. They are both wearing number…
3!
Did I mention three strikes yer out?

Let’s just let Weaver and Longoria take it away shall we…
Happy Day After Easter!

My game plan:

I want to get a quality 3B in the 1st round since my keeper is Ryan Braun and I am picking last then with the 1st pick of the 2nd round I want to get a 2B.
What I had in mind was:

and

Though what I got was…

and

Why not end this post with a little laughter huh?

Live happy.

Super Shields is the Rays Opening Day Starter
Talk about a big game pitcher huh? 2 years ago, he won 12 games, last year he won 14 games, this year he will probably win 16 games. Who am I talking about you ask? No one other than this guy right here.

James Shields. He is the Rays Opening Day Starter as officially declared by Joe Maddon last week. It looks like Kaz isn’t our ace anymore after all. So what will the rotation look like then? Well here it is…
5. Lefty David Price
Now don’t get me wrong, Jackson was and still is a good player. The problem is that there was no room for him in Tampa Bay’s rotation. Right now there are still about 5 guys vying for that rotation spot, besides Price.
(That AL Championship shirt will probably be the last one will ever wear in his career.)
2. We got Matt Joyce.
Matt Joyce is a great player and a stellar addition to the Rats team. I think the Rays should have let Gabe Gross go after this because they have Gross, Joyce, Perez, and Ruggiano all going for that one spot. The Rays also could have then used Perez and Joyce in a platoon for that spot. The best part about him is that we have him for 5 more years at an affordable price.
We should all just Rejoice with Joyce.

3. We opened up a spot for our Future Ace

Do I need to say any more?
I’m going to say a classic that I found to finish up this post.

The Manoman
Manoman’s Top 20 (20-11)
This is the first entry of a 2 part series titled Manoman’s Top 20
I was thinking about doing something like:
-
The Top Awesome Players That Are Now Playing Today
-
My Grand Slam Crew of Active Baseball Players
I was even thinking of doing something like…
-
The 20 Most Spectacular Men That Are Playing the Game of Baseball Today
(thankfully I didn’t go there)
So with that, let’s get on with the list!!!

20. Adrian Gonzalez 1B
Always flying under the radar and puts up great numbers at the massive Petco Park.
.

19.Dustin Pedroia 2B
The ”Little Man” had great numbers in 2008 and he won the MVP Award. Even though he is a Red Sox, I like him because he shows so much determination and dediication to the game of baseball.

18. Nick Markakis RF
He is a consistent threat at the plate and makes great plays in the outfield.

17. Grady Sizemore CF
Grady is a great young hitter with 40-40 potential and he is very exciting to watch on the field.

16. David Price SP
David is an amazing young pitcher who is going to be the next Johan Santana. He has electric stuff and is the future ace of the Rays.
.

15. Jorge Posada C
He is a homegrown Yankee who has played with the club for more than 10 years now. He also provides great leadership and order to the pitching staff and is cool to watch in the game.
.
14. Ichiro Suzuki RF
I like how Ichiro plays the game and he is practically a guarantee to get on base every time he is at bat. He has gold glove caliber fielding and he is a steals machine.
13. CC Sabathia SP
CC is now in N.Y.C. and with him comes at least 15 victories and a great attitude. I feel like he is one of my “home boys”.
.<img class="imgcentro" id="image306376" alt="

12. Mark Teixeira 1B
Mark is an up-beat kind of guy that brings his best to the field every game and always has a smile on his face.

Let the Games….Begin!!!
Spring training is finally here! Yes! Baseball is back!!

The games have arrived and now there will be more action before! This will be a season filled with excitement and surprise.
.
Will the Phillies repeat? Will the Yankees win it all? Will the Mets suffer another collapse? You never know in the game of baseball. One thing I do know though is that the Yankees played a great game today. Our pitching was phenomenal and A-Rod crushed the ball into the stands.
.

Today the Rays unfortunately got shut out by the Reds 7-0 but they still played hard and are destined to have another spectacular season. Especially since my man Longoria is on the squad.
.
.

Along with the games beginning I would like to make two announcements.

1. I will be holding a mock draft with MLBloggers on either March 14th or 15th at about 7:00. So far bloggers such as cube, cheeky, and King of Cali have signed up and there are only 8 spots remaining. Let me know if you want to join in on the action.

2. I would like to say that my 100th comment has been left and it was from… me! So, I’m going to give a shout out to the person who left me my 101st comment…

The King of Cali!

Tic-Tek-Toe, Where Will Varitek Go?
This is a serious question. This could determine the fate of the Red Sox Nation. This could make grown men cry and women weep. What is the question you ask? Well it is……….
Where will Jason Varitek play in 2009?
Duh, Duh, Dun, Duhhhhhhhhh
The stage is set, the cameras are ready, and tonight we are interviewing Jason Varitek by special guest of honor Ryan Seacrest!!!

We’re on in 5……. 4……3…….2………1………. and it’s showtime!!!
Ryan: Hello everyone, I’m Ryan Seacrest and today I am being joined by Jason Varitek on the Manoman Morning Show! Today I am going to ask Jason about his offseason, what he’s doing to train and what his plans are for this upcoming season.
Jason: Hey Ryan, so how are you doing today.
Ryan: Great, you?
Jason: I’m doing awesome.
Ryan: So what are you doing this offseason?
Jason: Well, I’m playing golf, training, and hanging out with my kids.
Ryan: How are you training for the upcoming season?
Jason: I lift weights, go running, and go training with my teamates.
Ryan: You been speaking to Manny lately?
Jason: Yeah, we keep in touch. I don’t think what he did at the Trade Deadline was right though.
Ryan: What do you think about Manny’s free agency?
Jason: He shouldn’t have demanded so much money at the beginning of the offseason but Manny is a great player and a good guy. I think he will be signed soon though.
Ryan: How about your own contract situation?
Jason: I was looking at my potential suitors and I am in contract discussions with the Red Sox. The fact that they have already offered me a contract and that I have played with them for so many years is definetly influencing my decision.
Ryan: Is Curt Schilling influencing your decision at all?
Jason: Yes, but to a minor degree. It’s good to get input from the players I’ve played with.
Ryan: So Jason, this is my final question. Who do you want to sign with this offseason.
Jason: You know what Ryan, I want to sign with my Red Sox.

Burrell, Baldelli, Bradley… Oh My!
Wow. Didn’t see that coming.
That was unexpected. The Rays recently signed former Philly ouitfielder Pat-the-Bat Burrell to a 2 year $16 million contract. Pat hit 33 homers and had 86 R.B.I.’s for the Phillies in 2008 but also sported a meager .250 batting average. Pat is sure to secure the Rays D.H. role for the next two years with steady 25-30 homer range production. Pat shows that he is dedicated to this team as he agreed to donate some money from his contract to the Rays official charity.

The man above is a wanted criminal for getting a steal on his 3 year 30 million dollar contract.
If seen, please call the Dormant Cubs or go to www. what the heck did you just do? .com
That was what some Cubs fans felt after the news that Milton Bradley was going to their team for 3 years 30 million dollars. Others felt it was the best thing they could do for their team. One of my only concerns for the Cubs is that Bradley has an injury plagued history but if he doesn’t receive any injuries he is sure to be a nice addition to the Cubs lineup as their right fielder. Unlike Burrell expect 15-20 homers as he is moving from a hitter’s friendly park to a neutral park.

Last but not least, my man, Rocco Baldelli. He is a great man and has overcome many obstacles to get to where he is today. I am so happy that he was mis-diagnosed with the mitochondrial disease as it is a non-treatable disease. Rocco signed for a one year 500,000 dollar deal with the Red Sox but that doesn’t matter since my cousin lives up there. He will probably be a fourth outfielder but as long as he’s happy with it I’m happy with it.
Best wishes Rocco! Rock on!
